Ramkrishna Paramhans Hospital
Be it in rural area or urban area, today people have become more health conscious and realize the importance of timely treatment. As a result there is visible change in treatment seeking behavior.
A medical clinic started at Kalali in 1989 has turned in to full-fledged multi disciplinary 24 bedded Ramkrishna Paramhans Hospital (RKPH), which caters to people of more than 20 surrounding villages. Various specialized services are also provided related to gynec & obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopedic, general surgery, general medicine, pediatrics, skin and VD, physiotherapy, nephrology and ENT. Pathology laboratory, x-ray & sonography unit and ECG machine help patients get all investigations done under one roof. Well equipped operation theatre and labor room, supportive services like pharmacy, dietary services, ambulance service and counseling, fulfill varied needs of the patients.
Beginning with 2 dialysis machines in November 2007, today ‘Sanjeevani’ dialysis unit at RKPH has 10 machines which run to full capacity in three shifts. With a view to provide financial assistance to CRF patients, ‘Dialysis Support Scheme’ has been introduced. Through the scheme they get all the supportive treatment and services at subsidized rates. Every 4th dialysis is free for all the patients. In addition patients pick up van; canteen and pantry facilities draw the patients to avail the services at ‘Sanjeevani’ on long term basis.
Through Obstetrics and Gynecology department antenatal and postnatal mothers are counseled. ‘Jagrut Janani Scheme’ was introduced to facilitate and encourage mothers for safe and institutionalized delivery. Sharda Medical Centre (Hodko)
Hodko medical center was established in 2005. Later as the need and demand for the services increased, it was converted in to well equipped 16 bedded day care center in 2008. It was renamed as Sharda Medical Center (SMC). As part of birth centenary celebration of the founder, late Shri Govindji Shroff, services of SMC were extended and it was turned in to 24 hour hospital with emergency services available. The center caters to people of about 35 surrounding villages. Networking with government and non government organizations have helped to provide value added services. The focus was on Reproductive and Child Health. During the year 12,192 patients through OPD, 508 daycare patients and 18 indoor patients were treated.
Sharda Medical Centre (Chhota Udepur)
Chhota Udepur is one of the most underserved areas as far as medical facilities are concerned. People are illiterate and ignorant about importance of timely treatment. Prenatal and antenatal care is almost absent. No secondary level treatment is available. Nearest special medical services available is at least 60 kilometer away. Those affected have to go to bigger towns and spend heavily on the treatment. Even if government programs were to run, infrastructure required to implement them is absent. No facilities are available for institutional deliveries. Gynecologists or Pediatricians are not available.
As a result of awareness programs undertaken in the area by SFT, demand for RCH services has been generated. Not only that, its central location would be able to cater to people of about 200 villages of Chhota Udepur, Pavi Jetpur and Kavant talukas of Vadodara district.
As part of birth centenary celebration of the founder, late Shri Govindji Shroff, the medical center started at Rangpur in 1995, has been converted in to 16 bedded hospital with a general ward and special rooms in December 2011. A doctor and experienced paramedical team are available to provide 24 hours emergency services. A gynec and obstetric department with latest equipment, pharmacy, pathology laboratory, x-ray and sonography unit and physiotherapy department complete the infrastructure needed. Health related services under NRHM and other government schemes are being provided under one roof in remote area of Chhota Udepur.
In three months time, 795 patients were treated through OPD. 16 daycare patients and 75 indoor patients were treated. 81gynec & obstetric cases and 53 delivery cases were attended to. 253 patients availed services of pathology laboratory.
