Training the Tribal Youth
BPO training center was established in Chhota Udepur in 2008, by Shroffs Foundation Trust as part of the Skill Training Program under Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojna. The project is being funded by Tribal Development Dept, Govt. of Gujarat. The goal of the project is poverty reduction by doubling the income of tribal youth belonging to BPL families. This would be done by capacity building, for employment in BPO sector, primarily in the rural location. Wealth created thus would impact the socio-economic development at rural level and contribute towards sustained development. Encouraged by the progress and management of the BPO training center, government has decided to keep the unit as a model training center. So far 145 youth have passed.
Commercial Shift
In July 2009, SFT started a commercial shift at night at the BPO Training Center to carry out commercial data processing job work by employing about 14 trainees who had successfully completed the course. Component of internship has been incorporated for the current batch to give exposure of live data processing job work to boost their employability in the market. Government is supporting such an initiative. 40 successful trainees have been placed with various enterprises. Some candidates have turned self employed where as few have been employed in organized sector.
Tally Financial Accounting Program (ERP 9)
With an aim to increase the opportunities for better employment, 6 months Tally Financial Accounting Program was introduced in October 2009 as value addition. The program was started keeping in mind the growing demand for account professionals with the knowledge of Tally Application. The training is oriented towards imparting employable skill through Tally Software to provide opportunities in accounting job market.
At present, a batch of 50 tribal youth, from Chhota Udepur, Naswadi, Kawant, Jetpurpavi and Sankheda blocks of Vadodara District, are undergoing training. At the end of the course, they will receive certificate from Tally Academy. With two certificates in their hand, their chances of employment will also double.
