Drugery Reduction Programs: Providing Safe Drinking Water

Providing Safe Drinking Water

In rural area, traditionally women have been undergoing hardships of drawing water from wells, ponds and hand pumps. Sometimes the water has to be brought from a distance. In both the working areas in Chhota Udepur and Padra blocks in Vadodara district, there has been scarcity of safe drinking water, the distribution system is not very effective and there is lack of quality control check.

As a result of intervention of SFT, water distribution system has been developed in 127 villages of Vadodara district, to provide safe drinking water to 25,000 households at their door step with support of WASMO. In Chhota Udepur block, Pani Samiti members are trained through refreshers course to test the water. They were also sensitized on the need and importance of rain water harvesting.
