the SGSY Special project

PROJECT CONCEPT
|
The Shroffs Foundation Trust with the approach of cluster
development of 37 Villages of Chotta Udepur focus on raising the
standard of living of 1500 tribal Below Poverty Line (BPL)
families and bring them to Above Poverty Line (APL) through the
formation of about 130 Self Help Groups, empowerment through
various Capacity Building Program and linked these groups to
various Income Generation Activities, of Handicrafts, Dairy
Development, Plant Nursery, Horticulture (Vadi Program),
Agriculture, Poultry Breed, Vermin Compost, Lift Irrigation and
small service base and trading business.
The project aims at developing Handicrafts into a business through
Skill Training, establishing linkages, Infrastructure Development
Craft Centers, Design Studio, setting up Production and Marketing
Units along with formation of Producer Company of the tribal
artisan ensuring long term sustainability and an uninterrupted
empowerment process.

PROJECT Objectives
|
 |
To organize identified Below Poverty Line (BPL)
families into Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in an effort to bring them
to Above Poverty Line (APL) status.

To build in and implement capacity-building
programs and activities in the SHG training such as functional
literacy, health awareness, entrepreneurship development,
management skills.
|

To empower SHG members by exploring and
providing alternative sources of income generation.
|
 |
To provide linkages for business development of
the skills enhanced in the SHGs leading to sustainable
socio-economic development in the region.
|
 |
To create a replicable success model through an
integrated approach for implementation in other regions
|

To implement the cluster approach for overall
development of the region rather than piecemeal success stories.
