SFT’s
team in action included all the staff members
and various volunteers who had come forward
to join in relief work. Every member of the
team contributed in some or other way with unstinting
commitment and relentless efforts. Though, there
is no undermining the work of each member, it
would be out of place if we do not take note
of some of the key members of SFT.
A
disaster strikes, and our Ms. Sandhyaben Shah
metamorphoses into an indefatigable workaholic
and does everything and charges everybody. She
was omnipresent in all activities, from purchasing
of relief material to distribution.
Mr.
Deepak Thaker, with his systems oriented
management style made sure that everyone did
things with proper planning and made sure that
timely documentation is done.
Dr.
Ashutosh Bhavsar has been there, done
that. He knows most of the things about the
issues of health in disaster struck areas. His
knowledge of disease preventive measures came
handy this time also. On the sidelines, he keeps
everyone motivated with his witty but sensible
style of talking.
Ms.
Hanny Mehta is our funds manager who
generally keeps everyone on the toes longing
for money. But in case of this disaster situation,
she never let anyone feel short of money. And
yes, for her and therefore for all of us, every
penny counts.
Dr.
Gaurang Ranapurvala is a master of
community sanitation and hygiene and this was
what the disaster struck areas badly needed.
He and his team completed an unbelievable feat
of sanitizing many villages in a very short
time.
The
whole relief effort got focused direction due
to the excellent survey form and methodology
developed by team by our Mr. Girish
Pathak. Girishbhai works silently but
produces something extraordinary and this is
exactly what he did during the flood relief
work.
Mr.
Mahendra Patel and his team did an
excellent work of doing the survey in no time
and did a wonderful job of providing key information
to bring focus to the relief work.
Ms.
Kalpa Shah, worked with Sandhyaben
hand-in-hand and did everything possible that
was to be done. She was one of the first ones
to start asking for donations from various individuals.
She is good in keeping everyone relaxed even
with stressful work.
Without
deft administrative set-up, no volunteer can
function effectively. This is where Mr.
Prakash Telekar came to help. He made
sure that all the support systems like lodging,
boarding and vehicle availability were properly
managed so that the relief work does not get
disturbed.
Ms.
Namita Majmudar and her team were continuously
churning out the reports on daily basis that
provided critical information suitable for the
work very next day. An amazing task, as she
had to work everyday late in the night.
