SFT
strongly believes that the only way to carry out
any task successfully is to treat it like worship.
Every member of SF1 team engages herself in any
task with a commitment that embodies the culture
of worship.
The flood relief activity was also taken up like
worship. The need for urgency, the regularity of
briefing and review meetings, the planning and the
actions, the sanctity of the timing of actions,
the commitment to do the best, the approach to ne
relief work, all these were the utmost display of
the work is worship philosophy imbibed into the
values of SFT.
That
the work is worship is an embedded motto into each
individual working with SFT can be understood with
the following event.
Kalali,
where our HO is, was also flooded with waters as
high as 7/8 feet in some places. Our campus also
got flooded fast. That day, we had two watchmen
and one peon who had stayed late. These people showed
exemplary courage and decision making they decided
to stay together and save whatever they could. With
whatever knowledge they had, they prioritized and
moved records and other important articles to safer
and higher areas.
For
almost 3 days they remained with candlelight and
lantern and managed to survive whatever food stuff
was available to them. They were later on rescued
by villagers.
And
the worship is something that continues for life.
We
have continued relief work into rehabilitation and
development process. Based on the surveys, we have
identified various activities that need to be carried
out for long term benefits of the affected areas.
These include
The
work continues, the worship goes on.
We,
at SFT, will continue this journey as log as we
have donors like you with us and the light of compassion
to guide us. We will not rest, we will not wait
but keep on going forward in service of community
as there is so much to do and so little time. In
words of Robert Frost…
